About
I have practiced and taught counseling  and psychotherapy for over 35 years.  Myinterest in how values shape personal behavior and therapeutic interventions is mirrored in published articles that reflect my vision of a more hospitable world.  Training:  I trained in Gestalt therapy after graduating with his MA (Clin Psych).  I am certified as a Gestalt therapist and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Florida.  I am a registered Professional Member of the American Counseling Association and a Supervising Member of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy, as well as the Training Director for the Gestalt Institute of the Gulf Coast Some of my favorite things:  Since the early 1990’s I have been invited to the GTILA/GATLA Summer Residential workshops as guest faculty trainer (www.gatla.org).   A six year collaboration with trainers from Israel and England resulted in the development of two new nationally accredited Gestalt therapy Institutes in Czech and Slovak Republics with EU standards.  A brief history of this program is described and you can find it here.  You can review some of the major trainings and workshops that I have done in the last few years by going to the Training and Supervision link on this website.  With the advances in technology, I provide online / distance supervision and counseling and therapy using Skype voice-over-internet-protocol (VOIP) with therapists and clients in many different countries.  Interests: I am interested in the “wider field” in which the person lives, including its political, spiritual and community dimensions, and I have published articles on some of the ethical, professional and clinical issues that occur when dealing with political detainees; rehabilitation readiness; adolescent development and behavior; and the future for growth in Gestalt therapy.  I recently contributed a chapter to a new edited book on advanced Gestalt therapy (Gestalt therapy: Advances in theory and practice).  Cooking (and eating what I prepare) is my occasional therapy!  Learning new computer programs.  Traveling and meeting new and old friends.
